I had to (mentally) go absent for a week. Here's why I'm able to do it.
The perks of working in the school system is that you get a lot of time off. Michelle is a teacher and this helps me when it comes to me maximizing time for my business. So when Winter Break came along, I was ready to maximize this time. The unfortunate part is that I had to leave the family for two weeks. No, I didn’t physically leave them but I did sort of mentally check out.
Here’s the deal. You guys know that I show the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to my entrepreneurial journey. Especially as a dad/husband with four kids. I want to help the next entrepreneur dad that’s in the same situation as I am and help them get over the hump.
One of the things that you’ll realize about me is when I go quiet (especially on social media), that means I’m working on something huge.
But that’s not the most important part. The most important part to all of this is that my family is invested and believes in my success. There’s no way that I could be on this entrepreneur journey without their consent to doing what I’m doing.
Let me explain:
Missing out on family time is hard.
I do so much that sometimes I have to give up family time to create success. The funny thing about that is that I used to want to work a 9-5 just to spend time with my family but the unfortunate part was that I wasn’t generating the income that I wanted. So it was time for me to take a different approach. It was time to go in the opposite direction of the 9-5 and do what I was truly meant to do. Be an entrepreneur.
These past two weeks I’ve had to increase my business and take time away from the family. In the past, this would’ve been hard because I was used to being lazy for two weeks. I too used to work in the school system and I looked forward to Winter Break to do nothing but spend time with my family. But what I’m creating with business is going to set us up for life. So the (hard) sacrifice comes with having to take time away from the family.
They trust me to become successful.
Even though we haven’t created uber success as of yet, the train is rolling. It’s making big time progress and things are moving in the right direction.
The key to all of this is my ability to take 10X action. 10X action is all about doing ten times more than what I think I’m capable of on a daily basis. Reading the book, The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone helped me to understand that the only way for me to create uber success is to increase my workload.
The 10X Rule has helped me to create momentum and has helped me to create massive amounts of work in a short amount of time. This has helped me to create big shifts along my entrepreneurial journey and has worked for me ever since I began taking 10X action.
I’m thankful that I have a family that believes in me and allows me to take such time away from the family to increase my business. The main reason why they support me is due to the fact that I include them along my entrepreneurial journey. I want them to be fully involved with what I do from the beginning to forever.
I’m hopeful that my entrepreneur dad’s can relate to this. I’m posting this to make you aware that you should include your family on your entrepreneurial journey so they can be a part of the success. Be sure to include your loved ones and be ready to celebrate with them when you make it!
