I’m Scared of Lost Time

Everyone talks of being great and making millions but are they aware of what they're sacrificing?

The picture of the header of this article is of my two oldest babies: Trey (left, 9 years old) and Ellie (right, 7 years old).

One of the things I’ve had to deal with on this entrepreneurial journey is lost time with my kids. Yes. Lost time. One of the things that most people can’t handle is the sacrifices that come along with going after greatness.

For me, I’ve started my entrepreneurial journey late in life. I started when I was 37 years old. I had three kids at that time and was released from a job. I was searching for ways to increase my income exponentially. I was looking to be the exact opposite that I was - a broke financial failure. Yes, it may sound harsh but those were the facts.

It was time for me to change my life for the betterment of my family. I needed to make this change or I was going to see myself mortgaging off more of my time in the future.

Lately I’ve been working 12-18 hour days on my business which can be challenging and taxing in the beginning stages. Getting my business off the ground is a challenge in many new areas that I’ve never dealt with.

The challenges aren’t the hard part. Losing out on time with my family is the hard part. It’s the sacrifice that I have to make in order to get us to become a financially free.

Now one may look at my situation and say, man, it’s not worth it to miss out on time with my family.

I get it. This road is not meant for everyone. Everyone wants to be a millionaire and live lavishly but no one wants to go through the ugly, the grime, the sweat, tears and the hurt. Nope. People don’t want to deal with that part of the deal. They’d rather skip that part.

But this is the sacrifice that I currently have to make. Notice the word currently. This means that it’s not a forever sacrifice. There will come a time when things open up. But for now (currently) this is what I have to deal with on the path to greatness.

What are you willing to sacrifice to get what you want? There’s a price to pay for everything. As long as you’re in agreement with the price, then all that’s left to do is the work.

Let’s get to work!
