Most people put on a front and want to act like they're doing it when they're really not. Most people won't show their entrepreneurial journey because it's the unsexy stuff. It's the grit, the ugly and the dirty stuff that most people will never show.
No one ever talks about the grit of the entrepreneurial journey. No one. Yes they’ll tell you about a time that they went through but are they willing to go on video and talk about all the fucked up shit that’s happened to them? I’m talking about telling us the ugly and no squirming from what others will think of how and why you chose to do that shit.
One of my favorite shows by Grant Cardone was a show called Confessions by an Entrepreneur. Grant wanted to pull out some of the boneheaded mistakes that many of the successful entrepreneurs made along the way on their journey.
The unfortunate thing is that he stopped at 14 episodes. Perhaps there’s not enough true entrepreneurs that’ll talk about the ugly.
And I think there’s good reason. The ugly is the unsexy. It’s not sexy to tell people that they will have to work their fucking ass off for a decade to make a life that they see in the movies. It’s not sexy to tell someone that they’ll have to eat crow and have many unsettling and sleepless nights of worry and loss when it comes to their finances. Never mind the fact that most people are doing that right now with a “secure” 9-5 job.
You see, being an entrepreneur or being known as one is the sexy thing now. I see all these Facebook and Instagram superheroes that are going on vacations and acting as if they’ve made millions overnight all by the power of just deciding to do it.
The one thing that I’ve challenged any and all entrepreneurs is to show their journey online. That’s right, record a YouTube video showing me your journey. Here’s the catch, show me when you’ve lost a shit ton of money. Show me when you’re down in the dumps and you don’t know where your next dollar is coming from. Show me the true grit of what you have to go through to make it.
Because oftentimes what happens is most of them end up being outed by someone online. I’ve seen it happen so many times on Facebook that it becomes a cat and mouse game. The one thing that most of them are unwilling to show is their journey. They can’t show you the ugly because they’re either too ashamed of it or they’re faking it.
This is why you’ll always get authenticity from me. Every. Damn. Day. There’s a reason for the header picture showing me and an Apple laptop cropped off. It’s easy for me to portray one thing and try to fool you by showing a picture. But where am I? I’m in my office. The bed. This is where I had to take a break for the evening before bed because I don't have an in-home office. That doesn’t mean I cant do my job, it means I’m still at the beginning point of my entrepreneurial journey.
See, I’m not going to get out here and tell you a bunch of fancy shit to make you believe something that I’m not. I will tell you that I know how your mind works and how and why you think the way you do. No, there aren’t any fancy degrees and big named colleges behind my tactics.
It’s called working with individuals of all ages, all sports, all backgrounds and all ethnicities. I’ve worked in elderly homes, I’ve coached athletes of all ages ranging from as little as preschoolers to as old as adults. I’ve coached baseball, basketball, football and soccer. I’ve worked with students that had Autisticism, behavior disorder, the severe and profound and regular ed students. I’ve worked with adults in their relationships with their spouses, I mean I could go on and on.
The one constant with everyone that I’ve worked with is the mindset and the need for the individual to change it and to see what I see in them. In other words, I saw more capability in others than most people saw in themselves. I have an uncanny knack and ability to draw out the one thing that most people try to bury as a deficit in there lives.
So when you see me online, in person, you hear me over the phone, in a podcast, etc, you know that I’m going to be 100% upfront with you and authentic.
My journey began in October 2015 and it’s been a road of glory, pain, struggle, victory, success and everything in between. It’s the good, the bad and the ugly. If you want to see my journey, be sure to click the link below.
I will show you my entrepreneurial journey. Not just the good stuff. All of it. The good, the bad and the ugly. Why? Because I’m separating myself from every entrepreneur that’s unwilling to show what I show. The bad and the ugly. I challenge any entrepreneur to show the ugly part of their journey and tag me on it.
So far, I’ve gotten no tags and no videos.
Be willing to be authentic in an online world full of fakes. When you’re real, you attract real. When you’re fake, you attract the fakes.
Which one will you be?
